Trends: Beachy Jewelry & Collar Necklaces

Hello & welcome! We are a jewelry store located in Historic Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin- in BEAUTIFUL Door County. We like to write informational Blogs to keep all of our supporters up-to-date on current & upcoming trends. We also use our blog to introduce new jewelry designs, and share information on gemstones and birthstones. In honor of the New Year, we wanted to dedicate the month of January to all of the great trends 2017 brought, and how they will grow in 2018.

This week's trend is: Beach Style Jewelry, and Collar Necklaces

Our shop is located in beautiful Door County, which is a peninsula located in north-east Wisconsin. Our Peninsula is about 7o miles long, 18 miles wide at it's widest point, and less than 2 miles wide at it's most narrow point on the tip. We are surrounded by Green Bay on one side of the peninsula, and the other side features the vast Lake Michigan. We are blessed to live in a County that is surrounded by water on 3 sides, and has about 300 miles of shoreline. The massive shoreline also washes up interesting and unique treasures for the one who stumbles across them. We love to make Lake Michigan beach glass and stones into one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. Beach glass and stone jewelry have been a popular trend across the country, now more than ever.

Take a look at some of our favorite pieces of beach jewelry that hold a uniqueness that cannot be replaced.

Genuine sea glass doesn't just come from the ocean. Any shoreline with tumbling waves and rocks can take a broken bottle or dishware, and turn it into a smooth, frosted piece of heaven. All of our beach glass and stones are collected along Lake Michigan and thoughtfully made into a piece of jewelry.

Pictured below is a piece of aqua sea glass, paired with a hammered infinity hoop, and made into a beautiful pendant.

A walk on the beach could bring granite, clay, glass, a piece of pottery, or a milky cream colored stone with glowing brown inclusions like this one! We set it in a sterling silver bezel and hung a small piece of red granite below.

This statement Pendant is one of my favorites! The cobalt blue color is like a dream, and paired with a hammered, antique bail.

HELLO BLUE! The greatest thing about natural beach glass and stones is that each piece has a story and a history. Each piece inspires it's own style and character, bringing life to each piece of jewelry.

This is a vintage inspired pendant, featuring blue beach glass. It's very elegant and timeless.

Small pieces of beach glass and stones are great for making rings! Here are a few of our favorites.

The beachy, bohemian style of using natural elements to make jewelry is something that is really trending right now. Beach glass and beach stone jewelry is something we adore, especially living and working in a county that provides an endless amount of inspiration.

Another recent trend we want to talk about is: Collar Necklaces

Collar necklaces have been around for a long time, but the style of the necklace is ever-changing. This year, a company from Paris introduced us to their jewelry called "Batucada". Batucada products are handcrafted with 100% recyclable materials. They are oil-free, lead-free, latex-free, silicone-free, nickel-free and phthalate-free. Featured below are their stunning arm bands, which are great for those who want a tattoo but are afraid of needles!! ;)
